چکیده

Biodiesel is nowadays added in 5–10% v/v to diesel, and its production involves the parallel creation of a vast glycerol amount as by-product. Despite many applications, there surplus (Gly) that has boosted search for new applications this compound, now transformed into an industrial synthesis intermediate or platform chemical. Its transcarbonation type reaction occurs under mild conditions, using weak moderate basic catalysts, allows glycols interest with high selectivity, such ethylene glycol. In research, we have studied activity Tunisian clay rich inorganic carbonates give it character. The raw (RC) been fully characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDS nitrogen porosimetry. Subsequently, employed catalyst react (G) carbonate (EC) obtain (GC) glycol (EG). main operating variables their effects on conversion initial rate were analyzed: concentration (2–6% w/w glycerol), reagent molar ratio (EC:G 1.5:1 3:1), temperature (80–110 °C). Then, appropriate kinetic model was selected from results obtained various including total deactivation order 1 catalyst. constant activation energy smectite found be around 183.3 kJ·mol−1. second phase investigation, explored reuse appreciate effect cycle-to-cycle deactivation. It can seen generally decreases number cycles at low goes through maximum temperature, while increases catalytic cycles. shows more stability, general, higher temperatures.

Synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate in basic ionic liquids*

Glycerol carbonate is a key multifunctional compound used as solvent, additive, and building block in alternative chlorine-free processes. Here, we report the synthesis of glycerol carbonate from renewable materials (glycerol and dimethyl carbonate, DMC) using basic ionic liquids (ILs) as catalysts. After process optimization, it has been possible to isolate pure glycerol carbonate in quantitat...

Esterification of glycerol from biodiesel production to glycerol carbonate in non-catalytic supercritical dimethyl carbonate

Conversion of glycerol from biodiesel production to glycerol carbonate was studied by esterification with dimethyl carbonate in a non-catalytic supercritical condition. It was found that in a non-catalytic supercritical condition, glycerol at higher purity gave higher yield of glycerol carbonate at 98 wt% after reaction at 300 °C/20-40 MPa/15 min. The yield of glycerol carbonate was observed to...

Synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol and urea with gold-based catalysts.

The reaction of glycerol with urea to form glycerol carbonate is mostly reported in the patent literature and to date there have been very few fundamental studies of the reaction mechanism. Furthermore, most previous studies have involved homogeneous catalysts whereas the identification of heterogeneous catalysts for this reaction would be highly beneficial. This is a very attractive reaction t...

A Novel Biodiesel and Glycerol Carbonate Production Plant

Crude glycerol is the byproduct of biodiesel production plant and the economic value of glycerol may affect the profitability of the biodiesel production plant. As the production rate of bioglycerol increases, its market values drop considerably. Therefore, conversion of bioglycerol into value-added products can reduce the overall cost, hence, leading to a more economical biodiesel production p...

Aminolysis Reaction of Glycerol Carbonate in Organic and Hydroorganic Medium

Aminolysis reaction of glycerol carbonate with primary amine in organic and hydroorganic media leads to the formation of two hydroxyurethane isomers and a partial decomposition of glycerol carbonate into glycerol. Aminolysis with a secondary amine promotes the condensation reaction and limits the formation of glycerol. The ratio of a versus b was determined by zgig C NMR. This technique permits...
